Intensive Driving Courses

Intensive driving courses simply taking lessons over a shorter time frame. Some learners find them a more efficient way to learn the skills they need to be a safe, confident driver. Some people learn faster by cramming training into a week, because they feel that weekly lessons are not congruent with their learning style. A good intensive driving course must be properly structured and Goal-focused, so that every lesson is progressing the learner towards their goal of passing the driving test.  

Nobody can guarantee that you pass a driving test. The DVSA are the executive agency for the department of transport and they are they only department who can conduct driving tests in the UK. Their driving examiners are trained to the DVSA’s high standards, and access drivers on their ability to drive safely and responsibly on the road. Therefore it is the examiners who decide whether you’ve passed or failed. Examiners can’t be influenced, so it all depends on how you perform on the day. If you decide to use a company who offers a guaranteed test pass ask to see their terms and conditions and carefully look for the hidden clauses because they will have them.

It depends on how you learn best. If you excel under deadlines, or you can not take regular weekly lessons because of circumstances, then a crash course might be your best option. But many people find the best fit is a flexible course that builds your confidence and experience over a few months. 

There is no minimum number of driving lessons. The time required depends on your previous experience, lesson frequency, private practice, and how quickly you can drive safely without help from your instructor. Rather than counting lessons alone, progress should be measured by what you can do independently and consistently.

After you’ve booked, we’ll get started arranging your course details. If you’ve already passed your theory test, we’ll ask you to choose where and when you’d like to begin, and how you want your course structured. 

If you need a theory test, we can get that booked in for you straight away, and we will help you study properly with our own unique course, which includes our theory app so you can practice whenever you’ve got time.

Once your theory test is sorted, we’ll focus on planning your lessons. Your course will be with the same driving instructor, and we will arrange all your lesson dates and times to work around your availability. Your course will be structured so that you make progress on every lesson, and a record will be available after each lesson so you know how you are progressing.

The DVSA can cancel your driving test at any time and for any reason, even up to a few minutes before your driving test is due to start.

It’s unfortunate but, If your examiner is late back from an earlier test, or taken ill at short notice, there won’t be another examiner to cover for them, therefore your test will be cancelled. 

The DVSA will issue you a new driving test date, or refund your full driving test fee.

Pro’s:

• Intensive courses are a good way to go if you like to learn things quickly, and can deal with the pressure of cramming lessons into a short time frame.
• They are Ideal for people who struggle with time for weekly lessons, or work away from home.
• Students who prefer the faster approach to learning rather than the traditional one lesson a week, will also benefit from an intensive course. 

Con’s:

• Some people aren’t suited to this style of training and can crack under the pressure, which can result in a loss of confidence for driving.
• If your driving test gets cancelled, you might still be committed to continuing with the course lessons.
• There’s no guarantee’s you will be test ready by the end of the course, and therefore you might have to postpone the driving test for a later date.
