Learn to drive automatic vehicles in Birmingham

Looking to pass your test quickly and with less stress? Automatic driving lessons in Birmingham could be your ideal route to success.

Why More Learners in Birmingham Are Choosing Automatic Lessons

Manual cars are becoming less common—and let’s face it, clutch control and stalling aren’t for everyone. That’s why more Birmingham learners are switching to automatic. You can focus on steering, road awareness, and passing your test faster.

What Type of Vehicle Transmission Is Most Popular in the UK in 2025?

In 2025, automatic transmissions are the most popular choice for new vehicles in the UK. This marks a significant shift compared to previous years, driven largely by the rise of electric vehicles (EVs), which are all automatic by design.

The trend is also reflected in learner preferences. In recent years, the number of learner drivers taking their driving test in an automatic car has increased sharply. This change in demand is influencing both the car market and the way driving instructors structure their lessons.

Manual cars are still common on UK roads, but their share is declining steadily. As more people switch to hybrid and electric vehicles, automatic transmission is expected to dominate the market fully over the next few years.

For driving instructors and new learners, this shift means that learning in an automatic is becoming a more practical and future-proof choice.
