When the driving test waiting time is a long one, students start to worry. We completely understand, no one wants to wait longer than necessary to take their driving test.
But, where there’s panic there’s money to be made. And a plethora of online websites promising driving test cancellations are popping up almost weekly, and charging excessive fees. In some cases double the standard fee charged by the DVSA.
These companies use bot’s which is a piece of internet code, and which is automated to search the DVSA driving test booking platform for cancelled driving tests.
When you use these site’s if they can’t find a driving test at your local test center, they will book you a driving test in a nearby town or city.
But this can go against students who rush to book the earliest date they can find.
These are a few reasons why cancellations can go against you.
- Your diving instructor tells you your not ready and therefore won’t allow you to use their vehicle.
- You haven’t got a driving instructor and can’t find one. This is a common problem, because driving instructors are busy and don’t want to upset regular customers to squeeze someone in for a few lessons and a driving test.
- You loose your driving test fee.
- You use a family or friends vehicle and fail the driving test because you were not at the required standard. 51 out of 100 driving tests were failed between October and December 2021.
Our advise is consult your driving instructor about booking a driving test cancellation. Most driving instructors are happy to help you get and earlier driving test date if they know you are at the standard to pass, or they have enough time to get you to the required standard.
The long driving test waiting time affects driving instructors as well. They also have long waiting list of students wanting to start their lessons, but can’t get them started until they have free gaps, meaning they need people to pass driving tests.
The government have started a new campaign called Ready to Pass. They give advice on how you can check if you are at the standard to take a driving test.
