I’ve very recently passed my driving test first time with Phil and I could not recommend him enough! Phil is so calm and reassuring which was great for someone like me who is a nervy driver, he always made me feel at ease! Phil was always understanding of my nerves and he was great at getting to the root cause of them to tackle the issues I was having. He is reliable and was on time every week, he never changed my lessons and always made more time for me to have extra lessons when leading up to my test which was so helpful! I will always recommend Phil to anyone looking to learn how to drive, he goes above and beyond and I honestly can’t thank you enough Phil for your guidance, knowledge and everything you have done for me over the past few months, the whole experience from start to finish has been fantastic and I couldn’t fault you for a single thing! Thank you again Lauren Mant

We asked Phil some questions that instructors often gets asked

What's your best advice for someone taking their theory test?

Read the highway code, not in one long session but over a longer period of time. Anything you don't understand immediately, go back to it at a later date. Book your theory test to set a goal to aim for. Once you feel confident, use the theory app we can provide and keep practicing. Pass the test as early as possible: To ensure 100% of the learning is only about the practical element. So you know what it is you are trying to achieve when taking practical lessons, meaning instructor time isn't spent teaching what could be read in a book.

What do you like most about being a driving instructor?

Having the ability to train someone to become a safe, confident driver on today's roads when before meeting me they had never sat behind a steering wheel before! The reactions and look on a pupils face when they pass their test is second to none! 100% job satisfaction - that gives me the best sense of achievement.

What are your top 3 tips to improve a learners change of passing the driving test?

1. Rest well beforehand. 2. Make sure you're hydrated, and eat something before the test (a banana approx 1hr prior is ideal). 3. Dont write the test off after a mistake! - Keep focused on what's happening during the test, not what has happened (you may not have failed...)
